The Thousand Islands archipelago is at the outlet of Lake Ontario at the head of the Saint Lawrence River.The region is bisected by the Canada–United States border and covers portions of Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties in the U.S. state of New York, in addition to parts of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and Frontenac County in the Canadian province of Ontario.
It is one of Canada's smallest national parks with a total area of 24.4 square kilometres (9.4 sq mi). Much of the park is only accessible by boat. Trail systems can be found on the mainland along the 1000 Islands Parkway at Mallorytown Landing, Jones Creek and Landon Bay.

Wolfe Island is the largest of the Thousand Islands, and is located at the entrance to the St. Lawrence River in Lake Ontario. It is a piece of land situated between Kingston, Ontario and Cape Vincent, New York. Wolfe Island is included in Frontenac County and the Township of Frontenac Islands.
