Winthorpe is a small coastal village in the civil parish of Skegness, in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north from Skegness. Winthorpe was both an ancient parish, and a civil parish, until 1 April 1926 when it was abolished.
The parishes of Skegness and Winthorpe were united in 1978; [269] its legal name is Skegness with Winthorpe. [271] The parish forms part of the Skegness Group, which includes the parishes of Ingoldmells and Addlethorpe. Winthorpe is a village and civil parish located 2 miles (3 km) northeast of Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, England. The population at the 2011 census was 650, [1] falling to 595 at the 2021 census. [2] The name is probably from old English wynne þrop , which translates as 'hamlet of joy'. [3]
