St George's is a former church in Great George Street, off Park Street, on the lower slopes of Brandon Hill in Bristol, England. Since 1999 it has been used as a music venue known as St George's Bristol. It was built in the 1820s by Sir Robert Smirke. It is a Grade II* listed building. [1]
St George was originally in Gloucestershire, outside the city boundary, and the terminus of the tram line from Bristol was in Beaconsfield Road. It became a civil parish as Bristol St George in 1866, and briefly an urban district from 1894 to 1898. [3] On 1 April 1898 the parish was abolished and merged with Bristol. [4]
