Sèleco was born in 1965 as a spin-off from the home appliances maker Zanussi. In the first years of its life, Sèleco produced mostly black and white televisions with the Zanussi or Rex brand. The company was put up for sale in 1984, and was acquired by Gian Mario Rossignolo. He first became chairman and then main stockholder.
In 1960, Zanussi started producing TV sets. By 1962, Zanussi exported its products to 60 countries. 1964 saw the first appearance in Italy of a fridge with a –12C compartment that was suitable for the conservation of frozen food – the “Freezermarket” Rex. In the following year, Zanussi put its first dishwasher on the market.
The Autoluxlamp, a kerosene lamp manufactured by Lux and used in railway stations around the world in the early 20th century. The company originates from a merger of two companies—Lux AB and Svenska Elektron AB, the former an established manufacturer and the latter a younger company founded by a former vacuum salesman who had also been an employee of the former firm. In 1947, Amana manufactured the first upright freezer for the home, and in 1949 it added a side-by-side refrigerator. [4] In 1950 the company was sold to a group of investors, including its founder, and became Amana Refrigeration, Inc. [5] In 1954, it began making air conditioners. [6]
In 1965, Gorenje started producing washing machines under license from Zanussi. The first washing machine was PS 270 (a re-badge of Zanussi's eponymous 1964 Rex Superautomatic Mod. 270). A total of 10,886 units were produced until the end of 1966. A follow-up model, PS 275 (a re-badge of Zanussi's 1966 Rex T4), was launched in 1967.
Frigidaire also produces a wide variety of refrigerators and freezers for the consumer market. Their model line-up includes refrigerator freezer units of several different types. The selection they offer includes traditional Top Freezer models, as well as more modern Side-By-Side and French Door styles. [12]

[ 2 ] In 1967 Hupp merged with White Consolidated Industries (WCI), which created the White-Westinghouse brand in 1975. [ 3 ]
