Wawa, once a dairy farm business, opened its first convenience store outside Philadelphia in 1964. It expanded to South Jersey four years later, and a Wilmington store opened in 1969.
Wawa also plans openings on Aug. 8 for a store in Sadsbury, Chester County, and on Aug. 16 in Sarasota, Fla. The company is adding two stores in Alabama, a new market, on Aug. 29.
