[4] The Kazakh Armed Forces was established on this date 1992 and was only made national holiday in October 2012. The holiday often coincides with the Victory Day celebrations on 9 May.
The holiday is celebrated for 1 day on 16 December. If the 16 December falls on a weekend, the following Monday will be a holiday. Yurts (traditional tents) are set up in many villages where local delicacies will be served. [5] It tends to be commemorated indoors due to the coinciding winter season. [6]
In 2010, a parade was held again for the 15th anniversary of the Constitution of Kazakhstan, during which females took part in the parade for the first time. [10] At the time, Kazakhstan was the only country to hold military parade on its Constitution Day. [11] This tradition was honored for three years, until 2012, when it was abandoned. [12]
