Houle's considerable influence as an artist, curator, teacher and writer have led to his being awarded the Janet Braide Memorial Award for Excellence in Canadian art History in 2003; the 2001 Toronto Arts award for the Visual Arts; the Eiteljorg Fellowship in 2003 and in 2006. Landscape Artist of the Year Canada is a Canadian reality competition series, which premiered in 2020 on Makeful and CBC Gem. [1] An adaptation of the British series Landscape Artist of the Year, the series featured Canadian artists, both amateur and professional, competing to produce the best landscape paintings of scenes in Canadian nature.
The winning work and the honourable mentions became part of the RBC Corporate Art Collection which holds more than 4,500 works. [3] In 2016, 586 works were submitted.
