Otto developed land owned by Detroit-based Garland Manufacturing Company into a nine-hole golf course. The course was originally built for the enjoyment of family, friends, and employees of Garland Manufacturing. In the early 1960s, the course was opened to the public, with an additional nine holes added in 1973. [1]
