Also if I press escape on the keyboard to simulate the Atari button, then press X on the DS4, the DS4 will work, but still can't press the equivalent of the Atari button. It's something, I guess. No luck with the other controller yet. The VCS will detect it in both USB and BT, but it doesn't do anything once connected.
My point:The Atari VCS is the perfect combo of where yesterday meets today. While both the unit, and the concept are fantastic, the shortcomings of the system are its marketing and (sometimes) resolving glitches. It has the potential to be such a fantastic system, which is why its shortcomings can be so frustrating at times.
UPDATE Step 2 of 3 [x] Checking for updates [2/3] Installing update(s) [ ] System restart Configuring system updates. Please keep Atari VCS plugged in. I've been waiting for 2+ hours and it's still on the same screen. Is it safe to just hard-reset and try again? Thank you!
I heard that the 'Atari 50th - Wider World of Atari DLC' is free on the VCS. I have the Switch version of Atari 50th myself. I didn't had a VCS when Atari 50th came out. But I would like to have it on the VSC as well. On the switch the DLC is 8 dollars. In November there will be another DLC, together 16 dollars. If I now buy Atari 50th on the ...
Kind of surprised that hasn't been any mild marketing of this, but again that takes money. Best thing Atari could do is try and time the release of Food Fight and/or Asteroids right before the holiday (Asteroids I know is 14 December), do a mild internet marketing campaign on the usual blogs and places, maybe try to possibly advertise it a couple places, and see if people bite around the holidays.
There is actually quite a few games hitting the Atari VCS 800 this year that I'm interested in but the main one so far being Spirit of the Samurai. I would also like to see the cart reader add-on releasing for the Atari VCS 800 this year adding more value to the device for physical collectors of 2600/7800 games.
If I have local co-op the Recharged games are also excellent. Agreed on Pixel Cup Soccer. I'd add this year's Cosmic Panic (party game), Danger Scavenger (super underrated third person co-op level-based run and gunner), Neosprint (top down arcade racing), Strike Zone 2600 (super fun simple bowling game), and Ultimate Ski Jumping (simple fun ski jumping game).
Discussion of native VCS game high-scores, and high-scores/contests in services like Antstream Arcade,
I've never encountered any problems recently with my Atari VCS 800 modern or classic controllers. A few days ago i powered on my Atari VCS in the main room and had to grab some food from the kitchen and i ended up taking the modern controller with me not thinking but the thing paired to the VCS no problem from another part of the house 🤣. I ...
Maybe ATARI should consider a option to play this version, and a version with the vector and neon styling that has become synonymous with the Recharged Series for their games going forward. A modern remaster of the original arcade game would be a superb inclusion, and would add real wieght to Berzerk:Recharged as a package
