I hemmed and hawed, and ultimately decided to have the guys at the local Tire Warehouse mount and balance the tires/wheels/TPMS sensors, but not install the wheels on the car, because I was paranoid about them jacking up the car wrong and damaging the battery (they seemed competent and they probably would have done a fine job, but I didn't want ...
Ah, a couple of other notes: - As the Discount Tire rep told me and others have confirmed here, the OEM lug nuts DO NOT FIT the Liquidmetal Shift wheel lug holes (the lug hole diameter is too small), so you *DO* need to buy the aftermarket lug nuts (the nuts that came with the Discount Tire "installation package" were black-finished 12-pointed nuts, which of course need a 12-point socket ...

Your aftermarket wheels are allowing water through the hub-cap, trapping it, causing rust, and the water is slowly seeping out. Did you pressure wash the wheels recently? I know this area isn't meant to be water-tight even on factory wheels, but the aftermarket caps probably have a little more compliance and let water get in.
Anyone ever get the paint code for the grey 21 inch wheels, I just bought some "used" stock 19inch wheels with 2000 miles on them and have them at the shop for powdercoating, but Tesla hasn't provided feedback yet. Only thing I could find online was this reference: 2014, Tesla, Name: Sonic Carbon, Code: NEU-106E and PPG:934723 PaintRef.com
20" SV903 in Liquid Graphite. This wheel were originally spec for the blackwing, not much concavity to it. It will look even better with Plaid spec with more aggressive offset (deeper concavity)
To be fair, the EPA rating for the P is with 21 inch wheels. As far as I understand the Performance and Long Range versions have the same efficiency. The LR now has 310 rated range with the 19 inch wheels. I'm close. But then the EPA testing isn't at 68 mph driving. My car reports 300 miles of range when fully charged.
I'm going with an 8.5" rim so that the rim actually sits inside the tire. (To prevent curb rash.) Apparently, Tsportline isn't going to offer an 8.5" rim with a 45 mm offset, at least they aren't answering questions about it. I just ordered forged wheels from Martian Wheels. 19" x 8.5", 45mm offset, gloss black. 19.5 pounds.
Up for sale is a set of four (4) factory genuine OEM Tesla 20x8.5J ET35 Stiletto Gunpowder Wheels (1044227-02-D). These are the same as the wheels that are coming on all new 2020 Performance Model 3's (you can view them on the car using Tesla's configurator). Never mounted new in box. These are not refinished or repainted silver wheels. I ...
