The pain also could be related to a condition called hip flexor tendinitis. To find out the underlying cause, make an appointment to see your surgeon to have your situation evaluated soon. IMHO this happens far more often than is recognized by the doctors and physical therapists. If you have groin pain after a THR investigate if it is your psoas muscle and Iliopsoas Tendinitis. Your physical therapist should be able to easily find your psoas muscle and push down and you will recognize that is where the pain is coming from.

Sudden pain in groin 6 weeks after THR. Posted 7 years ago, 5 users are following. After a steady improvement since my THR 6 weeks ago. I suddenly seem to have a pain in the groin again. If I use my sticks (which I had just recently discarded around the house) then the pain is much alleviated. However, walking without the stick is very painful.

Sometimes a steroid injection is ordered both for diagnosis and/or relief. Make an appointment with your surgeon. You need relief from this pain, plus ...
I wasn’t prescribed PT when going home from surgery but given exercises like the ones we learned in the hospital PT classes. I did as the dr said and the groin pain went away after a week or so. I walked for exercise but didn’t resume the exercises until 6-8 wks & only 1/2 the repetitions and all was good!
