The Lithium battery in cars is designed to last well past 100k miles. Many lasting past the 150k mile mark. I know of at least one person with a Honda Civic Hybrid who’s past the 100k mark on the original battery.
Does anyone has the Honda filters (air, oil fuel, tranny etc) numbers for the 06 civic Hybrid? or equivalent. I do my own oil change and stuff. The car is speck brand new,I like to change the oil after the first 1000 miles ,I have done this in all my cars over the years. The engine works harder when brand new and changing the oil on the first ...
Recently, my Check Engine and IMA Check lights both came on. My Honda garage tech advised me that the code revealed “Battery Deterioration”. The code was cleared and when the car was restarted both lights had gone off and have not come back on…yet (10 days ago). Eventually, I know the lights will reappear and I will have to commit (or do I?) to a new battery. The battery installed would ...
In a futile attempt to enhance my daughter’s image as a greenie, I bought her a new 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid. That car has proven the fallacy of early adoption. The only thing green about it is all the green I gave to the dealer and their service department. The Check Engine icon, IMA, and the charging system warning lights all came on last month. The IMA system was inoperative, and the IMA ...
I bought a Honda-Certified 2005 Civic Hybrid from a Honda dealer with about 65,000 miles on it. Last week (about 90,000 miles), it threw a P2000 code and the IMA light went on. This was translated by the dealer as "rear catalytic converter failure." I was told this would cost me $1,500 to repair.
$4500 is far too expensive for a new hybrid battery on your Civic Hybrid. I got a refurbished battery at $2700 for my 2003 HCH. You should look elsewhere. $4500 is the cost of a brand new battery. You should also look into a lithium ion replacement for your battery.

Hybrid vehicles are considered a risky long-term purchase by some, with unknown reliability of hybrid batteries and worries of possible replacement costs.
Honda’s hybrids just can’t compete with the Prius in fuel economy. Even the new Honda Insight can’t get the fuel economy you get with a Prius. When you think about it, your four door Civic hybrid sedan isn’t the small economy two door car like Civics made in years past. 35 MPG is pretty good for a car that size.
I recently bought a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. I absolutely love it, but one thing I can’t get used to is the back and forth jerking that sometimes occurs at very low speeds. I usually notice it if I’m going over a series of speedbumps. I slow down to a very slow pace to go over the speedbump, and then when I accelerate on the other side of the speedbump, the car jerks back and forth as if ...
Having bought a second hand Honda Civic Hybrid (2003 model) and having had a transmission failure at about 36,000 miles, I would personally be reluctant to buy the Civic Hybrid: the Prius sounds like a better bet and as I understand gets better mileage.
