Thanks, Raymond. Some things like My Computer are shortcuts the you make by going into File Explorer and finding the program and right click on it and Send to, then pick desktop. When you get the new computer the desktop may already be set to the classic view. If this answers your question - Then mark it so.
When you say to bring back the classic Desktop, are you seeing square tiles instead of the normal Desktop? If so, you are in Tablet Mode and just need to switch back to Desktop Mode: Press the Windows Key + A to open the Notification Bar. If you cannot see the Tablet Mode button, click 'Expand'.

Replied on August 31, 2015. Switching on Tablet mode will do that, but also run everything full screen. Click on Start > Settings. In the Settings window, click System. Click Tablet mode and change the setting. A compromise is to Set the Start menu to full screen. Start > Settings > Personalisation > Start.
Hi Grant, Tablet mode makes Windows 10 more touch-friendly when using your device as a tablet. Select Action Centeron the taskbar (next to the date and time), and then select Tablet mode to turn it on or off. Let us know how it goes.
Windows 10 Desktop Tiles vs "Regular" Desktop. I am not sure what happened, but all of a sudden my PC (HP Spectre 360) has the Windows 10 "Tile View" when previously I had a desktop view (and start menu) like old windows versions. I cannot for the life of me recall how I got rid of the tiles.
