If you're a viewer and are not sure which extension to install, I suggest installing both BTTV and 7TV. BTTV will cover the customization of Twitch, and 7TV will cover all of the extra emotes. This is what I use on my computer, and so far they haven't conflicted with each other.
It's a great extension that makes Twitch more customizable and more friendly for users. Personally the most useful features for me are - bttv emotes, disabled autoplay on the frontpage, hidden bits, hidden friendlist, hidden prime promotions, hidden recommended channels/ recommended friends.. and so on.
