In this Merit Badge Pamphlet, Scouts will find the requirements necessary to help them earn the Emergency Preparedness Merit Badge, including fire, tornado, hurricane, gas leak, flash flooding, avalanche, boat accident, and other emergencies.
Using a chart, graph, spreadsheet, or another method approved by your counselor, demonstrate your understanding of each aspect of emergency preparedness listed in requirement 2a (prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery) for 10 emergency situations from the list below.
Earning the Fire Safety merit badge teaches Scouts to use fire safely and responsibly, including how to prevent home fires and camp safely. Earning the Emergency Preparedness merit badge teaches Scouts the actions that can be helpful and needed before, during, and after an emergency.
