Pennsylvania has banned alcohol sales after 5 p.m. on the evening before Thanksgiving to stop people congregating and virus-spreading in bars. This has caused much rending of garments and gnashing of teeth. When did Thanksgiving Eve partying become a thing? I'm ancient, so we can't go by my long-ago youth.

The night ends with me sitting on the couch, holding a plastic plate of congealed pumpkin pie, while my grandma asks me why I’m still single in that tone that implies… she knows. I leave early, smelling like turkey grease and other people’s resentment. Now I spend Thanksgiving alone, eating Chinese takeout and watching The Sopranos.

Worked from home. Picked up pies at Village Inn and sides at Whole Foods (I'm just not into Thanksgiving enough to put in the effort beyond cooking a turkey). Started drinking around 1:00 (after Village Inn but before Whole Foods, and considering the insanity WF was, I made the right choice)
Blake Edwards is so overrated. He made a ton of forgettable junk during his career: Skin Deep, Blind Date, Sunset, That's Life.
The male lead was fine as someone harried and vulnerable, but he lacked the charisma needed to convince as a late night host and his supposedly witty banter was run-of-the-mill put-downs. The girl playing the possessed character was very good, however - her weird mannerisms were completely believable as the surviving victim of a suicidal cult.
Saturday Night Live and I are the exact same age. My mom used to let me stay up late to watch it when I was a little kid. The show has ebbed and flowed since the beginning. And there have been FAR worse years, far worse casts than the ones now. I think the mid 90s BEFORE Will Ferrell, Sherry Oteri, Molly Shannon years were absolutely the worst.
