To help biologists collect and evaluate data and fine-tune management recommendations Maine is divided into 29 Wildlife Management Districts (WMDs). Wildlife Management Districts are delineated, geographical sections of the State that have similarities in biological and geophysical characteristics.
Hunting and trapping must conform with State of Maine laws, MDIFW rules, and local ordinances. Trapping on state park or historic site land in organized townships requires the written permission of the Bureau.
