Karunai Ullam (transl. Merciful Heart) is a 1978 Tamil-language film written by Jayakanthan and directed by A. Bhimsingh. The film stars Srikanth and K. R. Vijaya. It is based on Jayakanthan's novel Karunaiyinal Alla (transl. Not out of mercy). [2] The film was released on 29 September 1978. [3]

He then appeared in works such as Veta (1986), Chantabbai (1986), Pasivadi Pranam (1987), Dharma Kshetram (1992) and Bobbili Simham (1994).
The film begins with a stingy jeweler, Martandam, who lives with his benevolent wife, Rajalakshmi, and two sons, Chandram & Ramu. Once vitriolic, Martandam slays a Zamindar for diamonds and incriminates his driver, Manikyam—the bearing of fact, Rajyalakshmi quiets.
