    901. 371. CA. Jul 1, 2023. #1. Looking to pick up a PCP air rifle soon to shoot some rats and squirrels that are stealing my chicken food. I’d like to spend around $1000 for the rifle and necessary accessories.. not counting the compressor/pump or optics. Plan to use a thermal on it for night time shooting so needs a rail.

  3. I am interested in PCP Airguns thinking about a FX

FX makes a great airgun but don’t sleep on other brands such as daystate (built more durable with an edge to quality over fx IMO). I currently own a daystate regal xl in 22 cal. Shoots both pellets and nielson slugs equally well. The build quality is second to none and is a joy to shoot.

PCP Air Compressors and What Works. Take a look at various types of fill sources for PCP airguns. The content creator, Dana Webb, is a trusted name in the airgun community. Great resource to see how various guns hold up in the field while hunting. His torture test video series is great!

  5. Air supply for PCP guns. Tank vs compressor - Sniper's Hide

    www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/air-supply-for-pcp...

Airgas is crazy expensive near me. If you have a local weld/gas supply try there first, or Praxair is better on pricing than airgas also. For example, local airgas wants $110 to swap my 120cf bottle of argon/co2 mix gas for welding, and Praxair does it for like $35. This is all location dependent.

    310. 286. MA. Feb 28, 2023. #4. I'm new to the FX line myself as I've been largely on hiatus from air rifles (and particularly PCP) shooting for the last few years. The availability of decent and inexpensive shoebox compressors changed all that and I'm back in the game.

  7. Night Vision Air Rifles + thermals - Sniper's Hide

    213. 124. North Woods. Dec 4, 2021. #8. If you go with a PCP air rifle - which is probably a good idea since spring air guns easily destroy optics - you'll also need a specialized high-pressure pump, with specialized fittings. An ordinary compressor is nowhere near sufficient (~100 psi vs ~3000 psi for an air gun).

  8. Scuba Tank For Air Rifle | Sniper's Hide Forum

Nov 10, 2013. #2. Size tank = larger cubic foot gives more shots. Aluminum vs. Steel - Aluminum will be lighter, but larger diameter. Steel tanks when new and kept current as far as VIP and hydrostatic examination are actually rated for +10% over stated PSI on tank. Personally when I bought (for diving, forever ago) I went with 100cu ft. aluminum.

Stacks pellets in the same hole at 25 yds. The manual pumps for charging the air tanks will wear you out, so a PCP compressor is great (about $1k or more depending on features). The economy of an air rifle after initial costs is really attractive when compared to centerfire practice. I shoot this rifle nearly everyday.

  10. PCP air rifle or .22 rimfire for benchrest? | Sniper's Hide Forum

    www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/pcp-air-rifle-or-22...

Pcp air rifles will most always outshoot a 22 in this scenario. A pcp where you can tune the gun is almost like hand loading for a 22. The biggest factor in 22 is available ammo and lot to lot or even within the same lot variations With a pcp you can easily change barrels, calibers, pressures etc and tune to specific pellets or slugs.

  11. New world distance record with a PCP air rifle!

    www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/new-world-distance...

With """pellets""" the best air rifles can exceed 22rf at 10Y, be as accurate as 22rf at 25Y, not quite as well at 50Y, but wind is a becoming a big problem by then. At 100Y PCP's don't stand a chance. But I was astounded how well an American Air Arms EVOL in 30 cal did at 300Y on a 7" diamond steel.
