It was designed in relation to the old city, in view of the walls. On the floor, granite lines visually link different points of the area with the most significant elements of Ávila. In the center there is a rectangular burial mound in which the remains from the excavated tombs were deposited. [ 7 ]

It predates other important Spanish Gothic cathedrals, such as the Cathedral of Burgos (1222–1260) and the Cathedral of León (started about 1255).

The Convent of Saint Joseph is a monastery of Discalced Carmelite nuns located in the Spanish city of Ávila, in the autonomous community of Castile and León.It was the first monastery founded by Saint Teresa of Jesus, who had the support of such important figures as the Bishop of Ávila, Alvaro Hurtado de Mendoza, who was later buried there.
