Néstor Vicente Madali González (8 September 1915 – 28 November 1999) was a Filipino novelist, short story writer, essayist and, poet. Conferred as the National Artist of the Philippines for Literature in 1997.
English became a common language for Filipino writers, with the first English novel written by a Filipino being the Child of Sorrow (1921). Short stories gained popularity, with Manuel Arguilla's anthology How My Brother Leon Brought Home A Wife and other short stories winning prize in the Commonwealth Literary Contest.

Works included in these years include “Prose and Poems” (1952), three stories in the “Free Press” (1965 - 1966) and The portrait of the Artist as a Filipino. Included in the first edition of Nick Joaquin's “Prose and Poems” were the titles “The Woman Who had Two Navels” (1961) and “La Naval de Manila” (1964).
Pichay was one of the most active Ilocano writers of his time. He wrote short stories, plays, novels, essays and more than 400 poems. He was known as the 'King of Ilocano Poets' during the 1950s. [1] He was born on June 27, 1902, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. He studied law at the University of Manila.
Early in his career, Yuson received a writing fellowship to attend the National Writers Workshop in Dumaguete in 1968. Yuson also has a Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Award and a Catholic Mass Media Award (CMMA) Award for Best Screenplay.
He wrote many fictions, most notably short stories in Liwayway, columns and editorials in Pilipino Free Press as a staff member, various articles in Asia-Philippines Leader also as a staff member, and poems, short-stories and essays in literary journals. His first short story appeared in Liwayway when he was still in high school.
