Kecoughtan High School (/ ˈ k ɪ k ə t æ n / KICK-uh-tan) is a public high school located in Hampton, Virginia. The current grades offered are 9–12. The current grades offered are 9–12. Kecoughtan High School is one of four high schools located in the Hampton City Public School District .
In football, each region was further split into two divisions based on school enrollment, so statewide champions were determined in Divisions 1 through 6. Divisions 1 and 2 were for Group A with Division 2 being the one for schools with larger enrollments; 3 and 4, the Group AA schools; and 5 and 6, the Group AAA schools.
The Group 6A South Region is a division of the Virginia High School League. Along with the 6A North Region, it consists of the largest high schools in Virginia. The region was formed in 2013 when the VHSL adopted a six classification format and eliminated the previous three classification system.
Bethel High School was built in 1968 to handle the overflow of Hampton High School and Kecoughtan High School students. Since the school board liked the Kecoughtan High School floor plan, Bethel's floor plan was designed similarly, with only a couple of differences (e.g., the courtyard and the 900 hallways).
Robinson Varsity Boys' Soccer won the 2009 AAA Concorde District and the AAA Northern Region title. Beat Centreville High School 1–0 in District Final and Westfield High School 3–0 in Regional Final. They also won the AAA Region title in 2000. During the 2009–10 season, the boys' varsity soccer team had a 12-game shut-out streak.
In 1928, the Darling Estate donated land on Hampton's Victoria Road, exclusively for the use of athletic facilities. The original stadium lasted until 1987, two years before the current stadium opened. The city's four high schools -Bethel, Hampton, Kecoughtan, and Phoebus- each use Darling Stadium for their home football games.
The Northern Virginia Independent Athletic Conference, commonly known as NVIAC, is a Northern Virginia-based athletics league; it includes both high school and middle school teams. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Founded in 1997, [ 3 ] NVIAC is composed of nine member schools or organizations, [ 4 ] and one provisional member, Dominion Christian School . [ 5 ]
