Gibson manufactured banjos in the years before World War II.They are differentiated from later Gibson banjos by their scarcity. Banjo sales plummeted during the Great Depression, for lack of buyers, and metal parts became scarce into the 1940s as factories shifted to support the war. [1]

Banjo music originated informally as a form of African folk music over a hundred years ago probably in the sub-Saharan region. When the Americans forced African slaves to work on the plantations, banjo music followed them, and stayed primarily a form of African folk music, up to the 1800s.
He later went on to develop a distinctive swing-influenced banjo style, which he performed and recorded during the 1970s and 1980s. Rick Shubb also is known as a graphic artist. [ 4 ] During the psychedelic era he drew posters for the Carousel Ballroom, one of San Francisco's hip rock palaces. [ 5 ]
