The station was inaugurated on 17 May 1884 during the reign of Regent Koesoemadilaga; at the same time the Batavia-Bandung train line was also opened via Bogor and Cianjur. At the time, plantation landlords ( preangerplanters ) used the railway to pick up their agricultural products to Batavia quickly.
