Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has substantially evolved over the past 50 years through an era of continued progress. This includes the change in name from Institut Teknologi MARA to Universiti Teknologi MARA in 1999. Befitting the occasion, Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong is designated the Chancellor of the university.
On 26 August 1999, the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, announced that ITM had been upgraded to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and the new status transformed UiTM Library from a traditional library into a hybrid library in line with the development of current technology.

UiTM Faculty of Law is one of the professional graduate faculties of UiTM and is located in Shah Alam, Malaysia. It is among the notable public premier law school in Malaysia. The current Dean of the faculty is Dr. Hartini Saripan, who assumed the role in 2018. The faculty currently consists of some 100 academic staff.
