Terrell State Hospital is a public psychiatric hospital located in Terrell, Texas, United States. Opened in 1885, it was originally known as the North Texas Lunatic Asylum . [ 1 ] The original hospital building was built according to the Kirkbride Plan .
Annually, Gallery Stratford awards a scholarship to Perth Huron High School students who plan to study visual arts after high school. The Ela Moll Scholarship was founded by members of the Stratford Community and the Stratford Art Association to commemorate the death of Ela Moll (1950–1969).

By 1997, the need for a more permanent museum home was realized. Responding to the need for a permanent glider home, the city of Lubbock, where a majority of the pilots had originally trained, offered to provide a new site for the museum. The pilots agreed to the new location, and the Terrell site closed in January 2001.
Central State Hospital administrator George F. Edenharter, who served in the position from 1893 to 1923, decided a building was required for pathology and hired Adolph Scherrer to be the architect of the project. The building was constructed in 1895 and opened as the Pathological Department of Central State Hospital.
The annual Hoosier Salon exhibition remained at Block's department store in Indianapolis from 1942 to 1977. The event moved to the L. S. Ayres department store in downtown Indianapolis at Meridian and Washington Streets in 1978, and remained there until 1989. From 1990 to 2011 the annual exhibition was held at the Indiana State Museum.
In 1979, the Indiana General Assembly created the White River State Park Development Commission to create a new state park to celebrate Indiana, [10] and hosting a new site for the Indiana State Museum fit ideally with the commission’s plans. [11] The museum board approved a move to the White River State Park area in 1984. [12]
This gallery is dedicated to the 57-piece collection of traditional Western art donated to the museum by the George Gund Family. In 2021, a six-person panel of American Institute of Architects (AIA) Indianapolis members identified the museum among the ten most "architecturally significant" buildings completed in the city since World War II .
