You aren’t correct. According to Airbnb’s terms of service, you cannot leave a service animal unattended inside your space. If you claim a service animal, you must follow the Airbnb rules surrounding them in pet-free spaces. The ADA rules are always misinterpreted with regards to STRs.

I find it odd that there's no way to filter listings by properties that do NOT allow pets. For allergy reasons, etc we prefer to stay where pets aren't welcome. It would be really nice to only show these properties.

Guests are no longer able to search for pet friendly listings specifically. Airbnb also basically invites guests to just claim their pet is an assistance animal, as @Marianne89 mentions. Bring the dog anyway, and skirt any pet fee too.
