When Harvest Right agreed to replace the defective freeze dryer, they told me that "when I get the new one", the simple text that led me to believe they would do the right thing, they agreed that I could remove the front panel from "NEW" one and swap it for the one I had modified. Then they would receive an unmodified unit back to repair and ...

Here is what I have experienced : I bought a harvest right freeze dryer and Paid $3190.00. I received it on 7/20/22. I was not able to use it for about 2 weeks after I received it due to needing a family member to come over and put it up for me.

I thought about building my own Freeze Dryer, but after cobbling together an expense sheet, I'm at around 70% of the price of a Harvest Right unit so it doesn't really make a lot of sense. I understand they suck up a lot of power.. to the tune of 20+ kW per batch.. Thing is, we are on solar power and have a lot of extra juice we're not using.

Hello! My harvest right is brand new. I had some issues with power failures, but have it plugged into its own breaker outlet now. I haven't been able to test if this has solved the problem because the screen is frozen telling me to change the oil.

When the Harvest Right freeze dryer actually worked, we were thrilled with the ability to preserve our food. There are some other technical issues that they need to work out. It could be a great product if real customer support was there to take care of you. I'm still investigating and looking for others that have been burned by Harvest Right.

  7. Freeze dryer, opinion after 7 weeks of use - Homesteading Forum

So in October, I discovered that there was a freeze dryer available for home use. Until then, freeze dryers cost in the $20,000 range and up. I did a bunch of research and ordered it. The freeze dryer holds up to 10 pounds of food at a time, and completes a batch in usually 24 hours. A few very wet batches have taken as long as 30 hours.

  8. ATTENTION: Freeze drying Starburst (Warning) - Homesteading Forum

This post only applies to people who own a Freeze Dryer. If you're thinking about freeze drying Starburst, I urge you not to. Despite the countless video's on youtube of people freeze drying Starburst and supposedly eating them, every video has one of two things in common, either they never eat the starburst, or the video has a jump cut.

  9. washer to the left or the right? | Homesteading Forum

Most dryer doors are reversible. I had to reverse ours going into the new house- 5 minute job. What you CAN'T get is microwave ovens with a door hinged on the right. AFAIK, they don't make 'em, and they're not reversible. The place I wanted to put a microwave in our kitchen won't work because of this.

When I harvest rosehips, I cut them in half, spoon out the seeds and hairs, put them in a jar and pour honey over them. On goes the cap, wait 3 weeks. I put the jar with lid on in a saucepan of hot water to liquify the honey (takes about 5 minutes) and strain. Excellent taste, the vit. C is kept intact.
