The assembly bolts to the truck (no welding on the truck) Structurally, the running boards are just that - they attach with brackets and provide a step. The Sliders are a heavy duty frame rail attachment that bolts directly to the frame structure and protects when sliding over rocks, high-centering the truck, etc. Neither product prohibits jacking.
I agree, well said, I paid $82K last year in Jan. 12K miles on R1T, Adventure Pkg. Quad big Battery, top everything. The title transfer at Rivian was a bit slow, but till I got it I had an "Added Driver" assignment by the seller so I could drive the truck. I had the sellers phone # with agreement he hold my hand if issues happened.
I'm confused why you couldn't use a traditional truck camper if it: A. Was under the bed load limit. B. Didn't have the part that extended down over the bumper. (ie. you just use part of the tailgate as the bed) Go easy on me, I'm well versed in the world of travel trailers and motorhomes but truck campers are new to me.

Thanks for the interest, please look at the product, the merits of quality, and how they perform. We priced ours based on our costs to make a proper Rivian kit, proper brackets that won't attached to the plastic bedliner, and a true bolt-on design. There is added cost associated with doing it right.
Rivian's people mentioned they often found themselves putting Nalgene-sized waterbottles down there; I could see myself using it for the little duffle bag I carry my dog's food and accessories in on trips. The armrest opens to a center console storage hole (purple) that seemed a bit smaller than what I've seen in, say, half-ton pickup trucks.
Had a close call on the freeway 2 weeks ago, 99% sure the guy didn't even hear the horn on the truck. The single tone setup just didn't sit well with me, especially because its so easy/cheap to add a second tone and help things break through the traffic noise. I'd seen other threads discussing...
