Sesame Street: Old School is the title of a series of DVD releases produced by Sesame Workshop, featuring episodes from the early years of the PBS series, Sesame Street, plus highlights from that era. The first volume, 1969–1974, was released by Sony Wonder in Region 1 (North America) on October 24, 2006.
The film was one of the few Sesame Street productions directly produced by The Jim Henson Company. This was the final Muppet feature film to involve Fran Brill and Oz, who retired from being full-time puppeteers the following years, [3] and the last Muppet film to feature Spinney before his retirement in 2018 and his death in 2019.
The title comes from a song in the special, "Don't Eat the Pictures", [1] sung by Cookie Monster. [2] It was available as a video tape by Random House in 1987, [3] and it was re-released on VHS by Sony Wonder in 1996 and on DVD in 2011. The special has everybody reprising their roles from the children's television series, Sesame Street.
