The first building specifically built for worship was a log church, dedicated in 1825 by Father Francis Badin, located near the lake in what is now Grosse Pointe Shores. The parish was officially organized in 1835, [ 3 ] and in 1848 [ 4 ] the log church was replaced by a frame chapel located on the site of the current church.

Greensky Hill Indian United Methodist Church is located east of Charlevoix, Michigan at the junction of U.S. 31 and CR 630. On March 16, 1972, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. [1] The church has been preserved with all of the original woodwork and can comfortably seat about 80 people.
