Pilot Hill (formerly, Centerville, Pilothill, and Pittsfield) is an unincorporated community in El Dorado County, California. [1] It is located 13 miles (21 km) west-northwest of Placerville, [3] at an elevation of 1175 feet (358 m). [1] In 1849, mining commenced at Pilot Hill. [3]
In 1902, the building became Placerville City Hall. [8] The Placerville City Library, the first public library in the county, was established in the upper floor of the building in 1906. [9] The space was shared by the Placerville City Clerk's Office and separated by a gate which was opened only after the Clerk had finished his work.
