The number of students peaked at 134 in 1967, but later gradually declined. In 2002, the seminary relocated to St Paschal's parish in Wavell Heights, and the building became the Brisbane campus of the Australian Catholic University. By 2007 vocations were increasing, and Holy Spirit Seminary was re-founded by the Queensland bishops.

Wavell State High School opened on 27 January 1959 under the leadership of the founding Principal, C.E. Anstey. Wavell State High School occupies an 8.72-hectare (21.5-acre) site in Wavell Heights, 7.8 kilometres (4.8 mi) north of the Brisbane CBD. The large site is on a high ridge, which slopes gently south. The complex of buildings stand at the northern end and highest part of the site, with a large playing field occupying the lower, southern half.

At the young age of 18, Paschal left home for Valencia, and became a Franciscan brother. Paschal Baylon was beatified by Pope Paul V and canonized a saint by Pope Alexander VIII, in 1690. He is the patron saint of chefs, cooks, and kitchens. St Paschal's Feast Day is on May 17, a weekend the parish hosts a Spring Fling Festival to honor him.
