An Arizona Ranger is featured in the song, "Big Iron", in Western singer Marty Robbins' album Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs. The song was re-recorded by Johnny Cash in 2002 and later used in Fallout: New Vegas. The television series 26 Men, aired from 1957 to 1959, told the stories of the Arizona Rangers.
The song follows the story of an Arizona Ranger's duel with a 24-year-old outlaw named Texas Red. Taking place in the "town of Agua Fria", [a] the townspeople predict the death of the ranger. Texas Red, despite having already killed 20 men, is beaten in a duel due to the speed of the ranger, and the titular "big iron" gun.

The Battleground Gunfight, [1] also known as the Battleground Shootout, [2] was a gunfight between a posse of American lawmen and the Smith Gang.It was fought on October 8, 1901, within Arizona Territory's Fort Apache Indian Reservation, at a clearing in the forest known today as the "Battleground".
