Wayne County is a county located in east central Indiana, United States, on the border with Ohio. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 66,553. [1] The county seat is Richmond. [2] Wayne County comprises the Richmond, IN Micropolitan Statistical Area. Richmond hosts Earlham College, a small private liberal arts college.
The largest county is Allen (657 sq. mi., 1,702 km 2) and the smallest is Ohio (86 sq. mi., 223 km 2). [3] According to the Constitution of Indiana, no county may be created of less than 400 square miles (1,000 km 2), nor may any county smaller than this be further reduced in size, which precludes any new counties. Wayne Township is one of nine townships in Hamilton County, Indiana, United States and serves as one of two townships within Noblesville, Indiana's jurisdiction. As of the 2010 census, its population was 7,886 and it contained 3,252 housing units, [2] an increase from 2415 in 2000, as Noblesville continues to expand eastward and Fishers reaches its northern limits.
