The origins of Istanbul University date back to 1453, [13] [3] when it was founded by Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II as a school of philosophy, medicine, law and letters. [13] The University of Constantinople, established in 425 CE by the Eastern Roman emperor Theodosius II as the Pandidacterium, later became known as the Phanar Greek Orthodox College after the Fall of Constantinople in 1453.

Three years after the faculty had its first graduates, the Faculty of Economics Alumni Association, which brought together the graduates, was established on March 1, 1943. After high school in Malatya, he studied in the Forestry school of Istanbul University. On 28 April 1960 he took part in a student demonstration against the Committee of Inquest a new super-power committee established by the Democrat Party (DP) government. During the demonstrations he was killed by a police bullet. [1]

İsmail Hakkı Baltacıoğlu (28 February 1886 – 1 April 1978) was a Turkish academic, journalist and intellectual. Until 1933 he was a faculty member at Darulfunün, later Istanbul University, of which he was the first rector following the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.
