Four Oaks was one of several towns founded along a branch of the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad, completed though Johnston County in 1886. Vass is a town in Moore County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 720 at the 2010 census. Vass grew up along the railroad in the late 19th century. It was originally named Bynum and later Winder before being established as Vass in 1892. The town was incorporated in 1907. [5]
