Gateway West's twin-sister building, Gateway East, was located directly across from it on Avenue of the Stars. Gateway East, was the second high-rise building completed in the new redevelopment. Gateway West was demolished in 2015 to make way for an expansion of Westfield Century City. [3]

The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 3, 1998. [1] The property was converted from a commercial building to apartments in 2003. In August, 2004 the building was used to film scenes from the movie Batman Begins. In September 2005 the building became a condominium and its name changed to Century Tower.
