Bluff City is a city in Sullivan County, Tennessee.The population of this town according to the 2024 census is 1,839 occupants. It is part of the Kingsport-Bristol-Bristol, TN-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area, commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region.
The estate was built in 1926-28 for financier William McCormick Blair, who was one of the many wealthy and prominent Chicagoans to build an estate in Lake Bluff in the early twentieth century. Architect David Adler, a well-regarded designer of country houses, designed the estate's main house in the Colonial Revival style.
The R.M. Knox House is a historic house at 1504 West 6th Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, with a T-shaped floor plan and a cross-gable roof. A mansard-roofed tower rises at the center of the house, and an elaborately decorated two-story porch extends across a portion of the front.
The Trulock-Gould-Mullis House is a historic house at 704 West Barraque Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. It is a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2-story wood-frame structure, a gabled roof with a large cross gable, and clapboard siding. The cross gable is set over the main entrance, which is sheltered by a porch extending across the front facade.
The city used $40,000 in Community Block Grant money to buy the house in 1993. [3] The property was shown 70 times over three years to prospective buyers and received five serious bids. The city sold the property in 1996 to a private owner for $100. [3] The new owners were to complete the renovations on the house by the year 2000.
In 1949, Bluff Equipment Inc., a Case IH, Kubota, and Arctic Cat dealership, was founded, and is still located there. In addition, it is rumored that debris from the Chicago Fire of 1871 was dumped near Bluff City. Bluff City was also the home of the Okaw Valley Opry, operated by Bill and Eveyln Oliver for many years.
It is also a contributing building in the National Register-listed Bluff Historic District. [2] It is a large, two-story brick house whose exterior was originally brick, but was stuccoed in the 1950s. [3] It was built in 1895 for James Bean Decker (1853-1900) and his wife Anna Marie Mickelson Decker (b.1855).
