Plymouth is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. Built in 1904 in Laurium, Michigan, the Palestra was the first building in the world built specifically for the use of ice hockey, [citation needed] and for most of its existence, the Palestra had a natural ice surface. The rink was flooded and would then freeze in the cold weather. The arena did not have ice making equipment until the late 1940s.
During the 2022–23 season, Michigan went 26–12–3, including 12–10–2 in Big Ten play.They won the 2023 Big Ten men's ice hockey tournament and received an automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament, where they reached their NCAA record 27th Frozen Four and were eliminated in the semifinals by eventual national champion Quinnipiac.
