Kimsey, from Woodhall Spa Golf Club in Lincolnshire, were an integral part of the England squad between 2010 and 2013. Highlights of his amateur career included selection for the Great Britain & Ireland 2011 Jacques Léglise Trophy, 2012 St Andrews Trophy and 2013 Walker Cup teams, and he formed part of the victorious England side at the 2013 European Amateur Team Championship in Denmark.

Woodhall Spa is a former spa town and civil parish in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England, on the southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, 6 miles (10 km) south-west of Horncastle, 23 miles (37 km) west of Skegness, 15 miles (24 km) east-south-east of Lincoln and 17 miles (27 km) north-west of Boston.
In 1947 the whole park was gifted to the Urban District Council (UDC) and between 1947 and 1974 the UDC put considerable investment into the park and swimming pool and marketed it countywide. Jubilee Park was as synonymous with Woodhall Spa as the Kinema in the Woods and golf (now the home of the English Golf Union).
England Golf is responsible for the general promotion and administration of amateur golf within England. It organises individual and team championships for all age groups, and has inherited the running of the premier events from the male and female unions, including the English Amateur Championship (a match play event), and the English Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship (Brabazon Trophy).
