The State of Georgia passed a rewritten death penalty law in 1973. In 1976 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Georgia death penalty was constitutional. [19] In June 1980 the site of execution was moved to GDCP, and a new electric chair was installed in place of the original one. The original chair was put on display at the Georgia State Prison.
A prison was located there. Currently, Metro State Prison is located near the old abandoned prison. The city had a circular city limit and half of it was in Fulton County and half of it was in DeKalb County. When Atlanta annexed the Thomasville area in 1952, it took up half of what was left of Constitution, which predated everything around it. [1]

Charles D. Hudson Transitional Center is a Georgia Department of Corrections work release facility located in LaGrange, Georgia. Opened in 2003, the center houses 155 adult male offenders. Residents in the work release program are given the opportunity to obtain employment in the community and address reentry-related needs prior to release.
