Elephant polo is a variant of polo played while riding elephants.It is played in Nepal, and Thailand. England and Scotland regularly field teams. Equipment consists of a standard polo ball and a 1.8 metres (5.9 ft) to 3 metres (9.8 ft) cane (similar to bamboo) sticks with a polo mallet head on the end.
The speedway track at Armadale has a unique feature whereby the start and finish lines are staggered. Until 2013, the start/finish line was on what is now the back straight. In 2013, the start line was moved to the current home straight, and was in the same position as the finish line.
The Edinburgh Monarchs are a Scottish speedway team based in Armadale.They compete in the SGB Championship, racing on Friday nights during the speedway season.The club is run by a board of directors, chaired by Alex Harkess and also runs a National Development League team called the Monarchs Academy.
