Maplewood Richmond Heights School District was established in 1876 after St. Louis split from St. Louis County. The original high school building, designed by famed school architect William B. Ittner, built in 1929, is still standing and in use today. [2] [3] As of 2022 the building has been undergoing major renovations and expansion.
In 1907, the first high school opened, making it one of the few high schools in St. Louis County. In 1929, construction began on a new high school, which is still in use today. By 1935, MRHSD had a running bus system for its pupils. In 1951, the name was changed from School District of Maplewood to Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District.
The M.I.N.K. name derives from the 1910 to 1913 Missouri-Iowa-Nebraska-Kansas League minor league of the same name. That league used the acronym M.I.N.K., as teams were represented by Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas. [2] The Carroll Merchants moved from the MINK to the Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League after the 2016 season. [3]

The Mid-Suburban League (MSL) is an Illinois High School Association recognized high school extra-curricular league which includes 12 schools located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. The conference is split up into two divisions for all interscholastic activities.
The Southwest Central League (SWCL) is a high school athletic conference in southwest Missouri. The league is made of five members located in Barry, Stone, and Taney Counties. The SWCL offers men's championships in baseball, basketball, cross country, and golf. Women's championships sponsored are basketball, cross country, softball and volleyball.
The city of Springfield saw a brief re-emergence of minor league baseball when the rival Chicago Cubs moved its affiliate to Springfield for one season taking the name Springfield Cubs.
