The Arlington Times began in 1888 as the Stillaguamish Times, published in Stanwood to the west of modern-day Arlington. Publisher George Morrill moved the printing plant to Haller City in 1890, becoming The Haller City Times, until moving into Arlington in 1894. [2] It later absorbed the Haller City News, which had been published since 1879. [1]

The Herald was founded in 1889. The paper was purchased in 1899 by W.W. Robertson, who also purchased the competing weekly newspaper, the Yakima Daily Republic. [2] In 1968, the Herald & Republic combined to an all-day newspaper called the Yakima Herald-Republic. [2] Harte-Hanks bought the Herald-Republic in 1972 from the Robertson family. [3]
The newspaper was founded in 1901 by Peter Iverson [4] as the Kitsap County Herald. The name was changed to North Kitsap Herald in 1995. [5] According to Sound Publishing, the North Kitsap Herald won 20 awards from the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association and Local Media Association, of which eight were first place awards, in 2020.
