Construction on Mahoning Valley Race Course, located on Ohio Route 46, began on May 30, 2013.Mahoning Valley Race Course opened on September 17, 2014. [1] The facility features a one-mile dirt course with grandstand, and a gaming area that displays nearly 1,000 video lottery terminals.
Blaney, born in Hartford Township in Trumbull County, Ohio, was awarded the 1983 All-Star Sprint Circuit Rookie-of-the-Year. [1] He raced in the United States Automobile Club (USAC) Silver Crown Series in 1984 and won the national touring series' championship. [1] Blaney won his first World of Outlaws (WoO) race at Eldora Speedway in 1987.
Michael Shank, co-owner of Meyer Shank Racing (MSR), was originally a car owner for Sam Hornish Jr. He started racing in 1989, winning SCCA Ohio Valley Region's Novice Driver of the Year. He later on debuted his racing career in the mid-1990s, winning the 1996 Player's/Toyota Atlantic C2 championship.
