Shippo receives a letter issuing a challenge against Soten, the last surviving member of the thunder yōkai tribe. He is soon captured by him, much to his dismay. Miroku and Sango fall into a trap set up by Koryu, Soten's dragon yōkai partner. However, the plan backfires with Inuyasha and Kagome, as Koryu is declared vulnerable against them.
Tsukiyomi sealed Hoshiyomi within the shrine, and separated the halberd into two blades. However, Hoshiyomi killed Tsukiyomi for her betrayal.
