Input devices and displays are two different things. Monitor drivers are nonsense unless the monitor is also a USB hub or something like that and you're running a USB cable from the monitor to the computer. The monitor "drivers" will do literally nothing as far as the display goes.
Uninstall and Reinstall the Graphics Card Drivers. Step 1: Uninstall the Graphics Card Drivers. Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard. Click on “Device Manager” from that list. Search for the Graphics Card from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an ...
From my understanding, these drivers can include color profiles that'll improve the picture quality of your display. For example, recently I did a Windows update that nuked the drivers for my Samsung CRG9, so I went to this page and installed the drivers there. YMMV of course, but if you haven't tried this before it's probably worth a shot.
So in most cases a monitor "driver" is just an text file that shows the monitor model in the Device Manager instead of the usual "Generic PnP Monitor" or whatever that default name is. Installing them doesn't hurt, though, as they don't contain any actual software code to run on the PC.

The only monitor I have in hands right now is some ancient lcd Samsung monitor. "SyncMaster 732nw plus", to be exact. Last time I knew, it was able to display Windows 7 with no problem. Now, when I plug it into a gt 1030 card via VGA, it will stop receiving signal after the blue Windows logo loading screen (when you're supposed to login).
It doesn't give any other options. Reading other posts, I tried updating windows drivers (Intel Iris R Xe graphics Adapter, using generic PnP windows driver), but this didn't work. I've tried turning off the Auto-sync on the monitor, and sometimes that leads to improved resolution, but it never goes back to 5120x1440.
