Television in Moldova was introduced in 1958. From 2022 it became illegal to retransmit television and radio programmes with informative, analytical, military, or political content, produced in states that have not ratified the European Convention regulation on cross-border television.
Canal+ is a French subscription video on-demand over-the-top streaming service and subscription TV provider. The TV provider was established as CanalSatellite in 1992 and later rebranding to CanalSat and the streaming service was launched as myCanal in 2013. It is a subsidiary of Canal+ S.A..
The channel was criticized and on 4 July 2014, the Coordinating Council of the Audiovisual of Moldova sanctioned Prime and other channels for broadcasting Russian "informative-analytical" programs, which contained aggressive propaganda and promotes and increases fake news and information regarding the Ukrainian government.
