Narrowing down my top 10 wasn’t hard, but I found it surprisingly difficult to pick my number one Rush track. It finally came down to Red Barchetta because the combination of great musicianship, a fantastic story, and all the grandeur of their previous progressive epics compressed into a tight six minute song makes for quintessential Rush.

Red Barchetta. At the one-lane bridge, I leave the Giants stranded at the riverside. Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle by the fireside! I always thought it was "drink" with his uncle... either works, though. Thank god for that one lane bridge.

My guess would be somewhere around Stony Lake, northeast of Peterborough, where the band started their work on "Moving Pictures," but does anyone know anything in particular? Sort by:

Red Barchetta has been one of my favorite Rush songs since I can remember. I can remember laying on my bed with my big Sears sponge headphones listening to moving pictures and visualizing everything in that particular song.
